The whole time I listened to it I was under the impression the album had a great sense of humor but I think I made that up. Album is good. Watch out for thinking it has a great sense of humor. Be safe out there.

You Better Work - Kai Fikentscher
A book about nightclubs. Even more enjoyable than a nightclub about books.
Malfatti-Wittiwer - Thrumblin'
On the list of things that only stupid people do is "pointing out conformity in non-conformists." Add to this list "pointing out the tight confines in which some 'free' jazz musicians feel they have to operate." Then call me stupid. This is on the bad side of the line between good experimentation and skronk, a term I invented but I feel will be immediately understood.

Death on the Installment Plan by Louis-Ferdinand Celine
Not sure if finding it more funny than depressing makes me a philistine or extremely intelligent.
The Muppets
A straightforward enough movie for me to just say it was really good.
Mama Bea Tekielski - La Folle
Proggi Smith - Folses

Identity Economics by George Akerlof and Rachel Kranton
Worth getting angry at for hogging all the good ideas about much-needed USABLE modifications of economic analysis.
Brainticket - Cottonwood Hill
Mind-numbing repetition until that becomes a good thing. Just kidding, it doesn't.

Sushi Maki
Great sushi. Probably not actually great sushi. It's more convenient if the sushi place by my house is great.
Life Without Buildings - Any Other City
The best album by someone I really hope ended up a kindergarten teacher.
Maschine Nr. 9 - Headmovie
This album is a fun combination of spoken word that I can only guess is good b/c it is in German and wonderful lil quality prog-blasts. Bite size progbits. Progchips. Grains of prog.

In Time
This movie had a great idea. Especially appealed to my economist self. Weird and bad execution. Also why do you have puns about time being money when that is all you have ever known? Someone harass Timberlake for the answer.
Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison
This book was great. Felt really big, geographically and mystically. Ending felt too sudde

Ambiguous Adventure by Cheikh Hamidou Kane
This book reminds me of Siddhartha, mainly in how it is the exact opposite of Siddhartha.
Africa HiTech - 93 Million Miles
This album is decent. Lacks any hooks as good as Blen. I'd have probably liked it better if Blen didn't mess up my expectations. This is your fault, Africa HiTech. Now I'm maybe almost mad at you, or maybe madder than I would have been in some other circumstance. Three stars out of something.

Blunder by Zachary Shore
This book is more or less the definition of middlebrow. Some interesting stories, some too-simple theorizing framed so as to Help You Live Your Life Better, and the whole thing is tackling a topic outside the author's area of expertise. Despite that, fun I guess. Buy it at an airport.
The Rational Optimist by Matt Ridley
This book is about how things are always getting better. It helps that I already thought that, but it seemed well-argued. The libertarian bits got kind of annoying, but what did I expect? The book has "rational" in the title. Code words.
Jef Gilson
Jef Gilson is a jazz pianist on the NWW list. I have four of his albums (Zao, Workshop, Soul of Africa, and OEil Vision). All of them are excellent. He combines soul, hard bop, and sometimes free jazz without getting cheesy or skronky, which blows me the fuck away. Good job, Jef Gilson.
